Description   Made in Guatemala on the traditional Backstrap Loom, the San Juan Pouch and coin purse is great for keeping together little items. The textile is made of durable cotton, hand woven in a traditional Maya pattern which is used for clothing (traje) in the village of San Juan. Each Mayan village in Guatemala has its own distinct colors, patterns and weaving represented in their clothing. Carry a little bit of this culture with the San Juan Pouch Set. This product is brought to Global Exchange by the Maya Traditions Foundation in Guatemala, who have worked directly with more than 100 Mayan women indigenous weavers in the central highlands of Guatemala. Its mission is to support women weavers and their families, by providing consistent income as well as offering workshops, scholarships, health care and educational assistance.
