Shipping and Handling:

For a limited time, get FREE SHIPPING when you purchase $100 or more with us.  Just make sure you select the "Free Shipping" choice in the drop-down box when making your shipping selection.  Free Shipping is for UPS Ground service in the U.S. only.  You can still have your items shipped via faster methods, however these will be at our standard rates.
Offer excludes Alaska and Hawaii.
 


  • When We Ship:
  • When you choose "Ground" shipping will be shipped UPS Ground within 1-2 business days from the day you place your order, and will arrive in 3-8 business days from the time it ships out, unless you choose expedited (2nd Day or 3 Day) shipping. Your order will be shipped within 1-2 days. Orders are filled Monday-Friday; orders placed on Friday afternoon, Saturday, and Sunday are shipped on Monday. Once shipped, orders take approximately 3-6 business days to arrive.
  • Where We Ship To:
  • Global Exchange ships virtually anywhere in the world and we try to keep shipping costs as low as possible for you. Domestically we ship UPS, except when shipping to a PO Boxes when we use the United States Postal Service. Canada and international orders are shipped via Priority Mail International through the United States Postal Service.
  • Multiple Ship-to Addresses:
  • For multiple ship-to addresses, shipping costs may vary. Please call 1-800-505-4410 to place multiple ship-to address orders, and to find out shipping cost.

  • Transit Time
    UPS and USPS do not guarantee the exact arrival date for shipping by ground (please allow 1-6 weekdays depending on your area of the country). Approximate delivery time is shown below on the map). For a quick, guaranteed delivery date, choose UPS 2nd Day Air or 3 Day Select. With Special Delivery such as overnight, 2nd or 3rd Day Air we will do everything we can to ship the order the same day if the order is received by 12noon on the same day. If it is after 12noon please call us at 1.800.505.4410 to see if we can fill a special order otherwise it will go out the following day.



    Canada and International Shipping

  • What Rates are Based on:
  • By law, all orders shipped internationally (including Canada) via USPS that are over one pound have to be shipped from our local post office. While we are happy to do so in order to accommodate international customers, this requires extra effort on our part. Our international shipping rates are a result of this labor, in addition to increased fuel charges. When we ship international orders via UPS, brokerage fees are usually added on the receivers end, so in order to avoid these charges, which are often more than double the cost of your shipment, we try our best to ship all international orders via USPS.
  • Items we cannot ship internationally:
  • Due to the many varied customs regulations, we cannot send any type of food, coffee, tea, or gift basket (that contains edible items) outside of the United States and Canada.
  • Customs Charges:
  • Global Exchange cannot be responsible for any customs or duty charges on any international shipments. These are determined by customs officials once the shipment has arrived in the country it is being shipped to. Most often these charges show up when we ship international orders via UPS, so in order to avoid these charges, which are often more than double the cost of your shipment, we try our best to ship all international orders via USPS.
  • Expedited/Rush Orders Outside the U.S.: All International orders are shipped out via USPS and usually take about 3-4 weeks to get to its destination, depending on how long it takes to get through customs. However, if you need to have something shipped internationally in a hurry, please call our toll free #:(800) 505-4410 for shipping charges and to place order.

    Exchanges and Returns --

    Satisfaction Guarantee:
    All products purchased from the Global Exchange Online Fair Trade Store are sold with a 30-day money back guarantee (except for food and drink products which are only returnable if damaged). If, for any reason, you aren't completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return it for a full refund of the original purchase price, excluding shipping and handling charges.

    How to Return or Exchange:

    • To ship a product back to us, carefully pack it in the original box or padded envelope, or use another in good condition.
    • Make a copy of your emailed receipt or packing slip that arrived in the box with your order, and place it in the box. Please be sure to write the quantity being returned and the reason for the return, and send it to:

    • If you are returning an order paid for by credit card, Global Exchange will issue a refund to the credit card account used for the original purchase (upon receipt of the returned product). If you paid by check, we will issue a check. If you are exchanging a product for something else, please make a note of what replacement product you would like to receive, and include size and/or color if applicable. If the cost is higher for the replacement product, please include a check or credit card information (12 digit # plus expiration date) for the difference, or call us at 800-505-4410 to arrange credit card payment over the phone.



    Purchasing Gifts for Others --

    • When purchasing gifts for others from our site, please inform the recipient to expect a package from Global Exchange.
    • Gift Message:
    • We encourage you to utilize the gift message option available. Simply fill out the gift message during checkout and it will be included with the shipment.
    • Gift Packaging:
    • We offer gift packaging for $4.25 an item. Gifts are wrapped in our signature recycled Kraft box with colorful rafia ribbon. Gift baskets are packaged in 100% biodegradable cellophane wrapping and tied with a ribbon.
    • Do you want us to exclude pricing information?
    • Each order contains a Packing Slip, but we never include the prices on our Packing Slips, so no need to worry about your gift recipient being able to view prices.



    Backordered Items
    If an item you ordered is temporarily out of stock, it will be placed on backorder and shipped to you once it is back in stock. If an item is backordered, it will be marked as such on the Packing Slip containted in your package. To cancel a backorder, simply contact us by phone (800-505-4410) or email ([email protected]) and you will be refunded if necessary.



    Sales Tax --  No sales tax will be added to your purchase.



    Coffee Shipped from the Roaster
    To ensure the highest quality, our coffees are sometimes shipped and delivered to you fresh from the roaster. What this means is that if you ordered items in addition to coffee, they may occasionally ship separately to you. In this case you will receive your order in two separate shipments.

    All of our other items will ship directly from our warehouse in Portland Oregon; therefore, depending on where you live and your chosen shipping method, you may receive the coffee before the other items in your order, or vice versa.



    Wholesale Rates

    Our Fair Trade Wholesale Program offers qualified resellers the opportunity to purchase Global Exchange Fair Trade retail products at wholesale rates for the purpose of re-selling them for profit.     Our Recycling Program
    Global Exchange purchases as little packaging materials as possible. We reuse almost all packaging material that is shipped to us. We also rely heavily on packaging material donations from local residents and businesses who would otherwise be adding the materials to local landfills. Our citywide garbage collection service is aware of our recycling efforts and often refers donors to us in an effort to increase re-use and recycling.

    So when you receive a package from us, please do not expect a brand new cardboard box. Instead, expect a re-used box. And if you see styrofoam peanuts or bubble wrap inside, know that we are simply reusing them and doing our best to keep this material from entering the wastestream by recycling it.

    Tips for Recycling Styrofoam Peanuts: Styrofoam peanuts are completely non-recyclable in the traditional sense; however they are completely reusable (a form of recycling)!
    Recycling styrofoam packing materials is easy: First, save it up in a garbage bag so it stays clean and dry. When you have a bag filled, call one of the "packaging services" listed in your yellow pages. Let them empty your bag into their container, then you can re-use your bag. It's that easy! Or, contact local businesses who ship items on a regular basis. Perhaps like us, they would benefit from recycling packing materials.

    2. Air shipping is a massive energy hog, generating five times the fuel emissions as shipping by truck. Choosing the Ground option is probably the single biggest thing you can do to lessen the impact to the planet.

    4. If you work in an office UPS is probably already stopping by, so this eliminates extra deliveries. It also cuts down on wasteful missed delivery attempts.
    5. Don't print out the e-mail receipts and order confirmations.
    6. Copy and paste them into a document or an email for yourself. Curb your addiction to hard copies. Just remember to back up your e-mail when you back up your computer files.
    7. Recycle or reuse boxes and packing material.
    8. To help the environment while keeping everyone's costs low, Global Exchange purchases only a minimal amount of packing supplies. We use mostly what is shipped to us! We suggest you too recycle and reuse packing materials whenever possible.
