Description

Be green and take your own funky recycled bag to the market! The market bag is a great way to conserve resources and carry all your groceries, gym clothes, wet towels...etc.

It is made from recycled agricultural fish feed bags so the material is a woven plastic making it very durable and does not easily rip or tear. It is also waterproof and very easy to clean. The handle is reinforced for comfort and durability.

Each bag is double lined, with two color choices: Light and dark blue patches or green and salmon patches. The design on each bag vary slightly as different parts of the feed bags are used. We do try to standardize the designs as much as we can. Read more about the artisans and the project below.

Producer Information:
Rice and feed bags are imported from Vietnam to Cambodia, where once the feed has been used the bags are purchased and collected by our group in Phnom Penn. The bags are then cut, sewn and assembled into various fashionable accessories. Rice and feed is imported to Cambodia due to the lack of its own agricultural economy after the devastating regime of Pol Pot. Recycled bag design vary.

About the Project:This group is made up of Cambodian artisans who are landmine and polio disabled. With an emphasis on contributing to social development by providing training and employment opportunities, their training has enabled the artisans to become self-supporting and confident and to see themselves as individuals with abilities that contribute to the development of Cambodia. Due to the excellent quality of products produced and its associated projects, this group was awarded the 2004 UNESCO Seal of Excellence; for Handicraft Products.
