Founded by Phil Smith in 1992, One World Projects is an established industry affiliate within the Fair Trade market. Focusing on providing socially and environmentally conscious goods, One World Projects imports and distributes Fair Trade jewelry, fashion accessories, household goods, gifts and toys, handmade by more than 80 artisan groups in over 20 countries throughout Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
Staying true to the environmentally conscious element of the Fair Trade industry, many products imported and distributed by One World Projects are made from renewable resources, promoting artisans to conserve, protect, and restore their natural resources and diverse ecosystems. All of One World Projects products provide viable economic solutions to artisans and their families in developing countries who may otherwise struggle to maintain a means of economic stability.
In Colombia, One World Projects works with Ecolombia, a vibrant and active wildlife protection foundation. In conjunction with Ecolombia, One World Projects has promoted a project for the people of Pintada, a community of approximately 10,000 people in Colombia, to create plush toys representing a species of monkeys that Ecolombia is hoping to introduce back into the wild. This type of collaborate effort shows the interplay between One World Projects' socially, and environmentally conscious aims.
